As we traverse the Middle Atlas Mountains, immerse yourself in the beauty of forests, springs, rugged rock faces, and charming Berber villages.
Our day continues with a stop in Midelt for a delightful lunch, offering an opportunity to admire the panoramic and impressive views of the Ziz Valley, nestled amidst palm trees—a green oasis in the heart of the Sahara. The journey then leads us to Merzouga, where you can unwind in the hotel and recharge for the exciting Sahara adventure awaiting you the next day.
Embark on a day of exploration in the desert, marveling at the wonders of the Erg Chebbi desert dunes—Morocco’s largest dunes. Begin your morning by leisurely exploring Merzouga, preparing yourself for an unforgettable night under the stars. Our adventure includes a visit to the Gnawa people, descendants of slaves from Sudan, offering a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in their music and lifestyle. Take in the panoramic view overlooking the Erg Chebbi sand dunes.
Later in the day, we’ll journey to the nomadic families in their traditional tents, sharing a tea ceremony that unveils a new perspective on life. In the afternoon, meet your camel and embark on a trek through the desert, traversing the red dunes until the vast expanse of sand and sky consumes your surroundings. Pause to witness the sunset, arriving at your campsite as the day concludes. Our journey continues as we bid farewell to Merzouga and head towards Rissani, home to the largest and most bustling weekly market in Southern Morocco. Explore craft stores, navigate through the dates market, and witness lively animal trades featuring goats, sheep, donkeys, camels, and cows. Our adventure then takes us to Erfoud, renowned for its fossilized marbles.
Continuing our exploration, we reach the Todra Gorges, the highest oasis valley gorge in Morocco. Marvel at the panoramic views of ancient mud Berber villages perched above the valley. Delve into the Gorge, walking beneath the impressive 300-meter-high red cliff, a popular spot for rock-climbers pursuing their favorite sport. Our day concludes with a scenic drive through the Dades Valley, culminating in a night spent at a charming hotel nestled in the heart of the valley.
Embark on your journey from the hotel in Dades Valley, setting a course for Ouarzazate through the captivating Road of Thousand-Kasbah. En route, we’ll pause at Kalaat Mgouna, known as the “rose’s city,” celebrated for its roses and hosting an annual festival during the May harvest. Continuing our drive, we’ll encounter the picturesque palm groves of Skoura, where the landscapes are bound to leave a lasting impression. The road, adorned with palm-tree shadows, invites you to savor the tranquility of the surroundings, creating an atmosphere where time seems to slow down.
Traveling 45 kilometers further, we’ll arrive at Ouarzazate, often hailed as the “Hollywood of Africa.” This town boasts one of the largest film studios, serving as the backdrop for numerous Hollywood blockbusters and historical television programs, including renowned productions like Gladiator and Lawrence of Arabia. Begin your day with a delicious breakfast at the hotel before embarking on a visit to the Taourirt Kasbah. Nestled on the town’s edge, this former Glaoui residence is celebrated as one of Morocco’s most stunning kasbahs. Following this, our journey takes us outside the town for an exclusive tour of the Atlas Corporation Studios. From there, we’ll venture to the renowned Kasbah Ait Benhaddou, located 30 kilometers from Ouarzazate. This captivating red earth castle stands as one of the most fascinating along the ancient road of the Kasbahs, earning its UNESCO world heritage status.
