Itinerary
4 days desert tour from Marrakech to Fes

Day 1Marrakech--Atlas Mountains- Kasbah Ben Haddou -–Dades Valley

Welcome to Morocco! Your 4-day desert tour begins today. A friendly driver will pick you up from your riad/hotel in Marrakech, and we’ll commence our journey towards the captivating Dades Gorges. As we traverse the Tizi-n-Tishka pass in the High Atlas Mountains, our first stop is the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Ait Ben Haddou, a location renowned for its appearance in films such as Lawrence of Arabia, Gladiator, and Alexander. Following a delightful lunch, we’ll explore the scenic landscapes and historical wonders, including the Taourirt Kasbah in Ouarzazate and the Valley of the Roses, famous for its annual Festival of Roses. Our route will take us through the Berber villages of El Kelaa des M’Gouna and Boumalene du Dades, where we will spend the night.

Day 2Dades Valley - Todra Gorges - Tinjdad - Erfoud —Merzouga

There’s more to discover in the Sahara than you might imagine! After a satisfying breakfast, we embark on a journey to the Dades Gorges, traversing the valley and pausing to relish the breathtaking scenery. Our route then leads to Tinghir, followed by a visit to the magnificent Todra Canyons, located just 20 km away. Take some free time to explore the canyons, savoring the riverside ambiance and stunning views. Lunch awaits at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we head to Tinjedad, known for its ancient underground irrigation system and Touroug Palm Plantations, eventually reaching Erfoud for a visit to a local fossil craft workshop. Our adventure continues to the captivating dunes of Erg Chebbi, also recognized as the Dunes of Merzouga. The day concludes with dinner and an overnight stay in a Merzouga Kasbah or hotel.

Day 3Merzouga Desert Tour – Erg Chebbi – Berber tent

It’s the third day, but the adventure in the Sahara Desert is just unfolding! Following a delightful breakfast, we embark on a journey towards Erg Chebbi in Merzouga, reveling in the captivating desert scenery and passing by the ancient gravestones of Taouz. Our next stop brings us to the mesmerizing Gnawa music of Khamlia, where we indulge in lunch at a charming restaurant owned by a Gnawi individual. A brief drive leads us to a nearby hotel for some refreshments before we embark on a camel ride into the desert. Unnecessary luggage will be securely stored in designated hotel rooms. The 90-minute camel trek transports us to a Berber camp nestled in the heart of the Erg Chebbi sand dunes, the highest in North Africa. The camp features cozy Berber tents equipped with mattresses and linen, a restaurant, a kitchen, and a ‘natural’ toilet. The evening unfolds with a delightful dinner and entertainment, highlighted by Berber drum performances around the campfire.

Day 4Merzouga – Fes

Today involves a lengthy drive. You’ll wake up before sunrise to ascend the sand dunes, capturing fantastic photo opportunities. Afterward, we’ll return to the hotel for showers and breakfast before embarking on the journey to Fez. Along the way, we’ll traverse Erfoud, Errachidia, the Ziz Valley, Meditlt, the cedar forests with monkey troupes in Azrou, and Ifrane. Finally, we’ll drop you off at your riad/hotel in Fez.

The 4-day Sahara desert tour from Marrakech to Fes is drawing to a close! We sincerely hope you enjoyed the journey with our team!
